About the Coalition Against Rape and Domestic Violence

Our Beginnings

The Coalition Against Rape and Domestic Violence was originally created in 1994 when a group of seven community members came together to form a Board of Directors.

At that time, CARDV provided limited crisis intervention services with referrals to other community agencies.

Progress

In 1998 CARDV issued it’s first report of success, showing our 24-hour crisis line handled 335 calls and services were provided for 250 individuals.

Staff and volunteers worked hard to get information about our services to the community and our numbers grew.

CARDV Today

In 2004, the CARDV crisis line handled 1401 calls, and services were provided to 1057 individuals.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
